Species Notes

Grouping: Flora, Arthropod

Druigoths are a species of cold-adapted insect found in sufficiently cold areas. Their larvae are extremely delicate and burrow under permafrost, feeding on decaying plant matter, but are too fragile to remove from their frigid environment. As they pupate, they become much hardier, and the adults can tolerate less extreme environments, though they show a strong preference for the cold.

Adult Druigoths are omnivorous, but heavily favor meat, and will attack any prey they think they can overpower with their bulky bodies and sharp claws. Their claws and antennae are covered in protective sharpened wood grown from their symbiotic plant. When raised in captivity and well fed, they can become somewhat tame, but will still attempt to eat any smaller creatures that are incapacitated around them.

Druigoths are largely solitary, and do not seem terribly interested in much aside from eating until their breeding season in the depths of winter.
